I have a 302. Now what do I do?

I am new to the Domestic world and i just pulled a 5.0 302 motor out of a grand marquis. I was told to just put the edelbrock performance head kit and that should give me a good amount of power but i would like to be somewhere near the 11's but still keep it a street car.

Can you guys tell me what i should do or if i should go another route. I already have a body with a good rear, 5 lug conversion and and nice race suspension. What do you guys think?? and how much money am I looking to spend with my desired time.

Flip the engine, put in some new rod and main bearings first. I say you need twisted wedge heads, stage 2 cam, nice roller rockers, street heat intake if you want it streetable. 75mm throttle body, Cold air kit. What kind of tranny are you using? If its automatic, get a 2500 stall, much higher than that and you wont want to drive it on the street. Also, get some 1 3/4 headers and a 3" H-pipe w/ good flowing mufflers. Flowmaster 40's will give it a great sound. You may consider putting a No2 kit as well for drag use. Either way good luck and let us know how it works out!

347 stroker kit, AFR 205 heads, 650 mighty demon, victor jr intake. Crower 15515 camshaft.

that should get you close to the 11s and shouldn't break the bank, while still being perfectly streetable

Check out the motor first. Do a compression check and see what kind fo shape its in. If its in good shape then do a H/C/I setup on it like a complete TFS top end kit. You can get the entire kit from Summit for like $2300. This will give you right about 300 at the tires. You didnt say what kind of car but I am assuming a fox body, so fox bodies are pretty light. Its one of the biggest advantages of a fox body mustang. A light car making 300 at the tires will be pretty unstoppable on the street. Now for added ass kicking just throw yourself a nitrous kit on it and make 400 or 450 depending on your size shot and with that kind of power you will be a street god. Its a simple effective cheap setup and with a light car and some sticky tires you will see 11's. Now will your transmission hold up to this power? Probably not unless its built. But this is a simple equation for a nice street car that will make good power.
