putting a 350 in a stang

i know you guys are going to give me some shit about this but i'm hoping for some help along with the haggle. what i have is a 91 gt with a stock 302 engine in it; what i also have is a built high 9 second GM engine laying in my garage. how much work would it be to get this thing to fit into the pony. or do they even make a kit?

There are a couple of guys on my local mustang forum with bastard children running 350s. I am pretty sure there are kits but I know for sure these guys fabbed a bunch of the stuff themselves. PM me if you don't find what you need on the link that HMUS posted for you and I can put you in touch with them.

There is no such thing as a 9 second engine. It takes a lot more than engine to get you in the 9 second zone. With the amount of money you'll spend putting a 350 in your mustang, you'll end up wishing you had just put a 351w in there instead. Sell the 350 and use the money to build a 351w and you'll have a much easier swap and a much more durable engine.

Who in hell makes a kit to swap a chevy motor into a mustang you are most likley going to have to fab all the stuff to do it. Why not just put a 351 in it

well i think were all aware that your lucky if you get half back for an engine of what you put in it, thats why i want to do it. and just so your aware it ran 10.2 all day in a nova wagon, so im confident that it will be in the 9's in a foxbody

they make k members so you can bolt the 350 right in then you need a gm trans mount and some other odds and ends

seems it is a lot cheaper to build a chebby that would a good thing to look at. but that would be the only reason i would even think about putting it in a mustang but do what you want its your car have fun post pics and vids when you are done.

Oh yeah, you just need a 8 or 10 pt cage, subframe connectors, torque box strengthening, stronger axles/gears, harnesses, upper and lower control arms, driveshaft loop, driveshaft upgrade, and a whole bunch of other modifications to your foxbody before you even think of running 9s. That was my point, there is no such thing as a 9 second motor, it takes the whole car to get it down the track. Even if it ran 8s in the previous car, there is no guarantee you'll see 10s. If it isn't set up right, it doesn't matter how much power you make. You'll just end up breaking things or worse you'll end up with a dangerous car. As an example, my buddy has a motor that ran 11s in the truck it was in previously, he put it in his camaro (yeah I feel sorry for him too) and he hasn't even gotten it down the track yet for better than 12s. There can be a whole lot of bugs to work out and tuning to do when taking a motor from one car and putting it in another...

I'm sure these are things you've already thought about, but you will end up spending more money putting the chevy motor in, even though it is already built. I'm all for doing things that are original, but they aren't the cheaper way of doing things. Think about motor mounts, custom headers, cross members, trans mounts, driveshaft length, and not being accepted by the ford or the chevy guys.

I say go for it. I did quite the opposite swap. had a totaled 86gt, had a blown up s10. put two together. added a dodge dynasty radiator. called it "the bastard". no ever expects to run against the "fordvrolet stang-10"
