Crank but no Spark.

ok i thought it was only when i just got the car that this was gonna happen. Well when i picked up the car like 4 days ago or so it did not want to start. it was cranking but no spark. Now it has MSD 6a ign. box i think it is 6a. And it has a msd distributor. Now after trying everything like connecting neg. / pos. wires straight from the battery to the coil cuz it was getting good ground and power to the box but nothing coming out the ign box. last thing we tried was dissconnecting the battery for like 5mins and when i hooked it back up the car started and ran. so i drove it home and it even started back up the next day but just tried today and same thing crank but no start no spark. i did'nt have time to disconnect the battery and see if starts again. but i'm guessing it will and would like ya opinion on this matter.

I had the same problem with my MSD distributor. You can trick the box into sending a spark by grounding the white wire with the two pin plug disconnected or you can jumper the two pin connector (with the white wire disconnected). This is with the key in the on position.

You should get a spark at the coil when you do this. If not it is your MSD box, send it back and get it serviced for $35. If you do, but the car still will not start, 100:1 odds are that it is the magnetic pickup or ignition module in the distributor (depending on what model you have.) Mine went bad within 5000 miles of being new. At first the no starting was sporadic, then it refused to fire. After I replaced the magnetic pickup with a new one from MSD, it fired right up and has never had the same problem since (10,000 miles and 3 years).

Hope that helps

Ok i try'd this today but i dont know if i did it right.
First of all the white wire was not hooked up to nothing its just hanging there. What is it suppose to be connected to? since it was disconnected i tried to jump the two pin connectors Which i hope u meant the the two wires that go into the coil pack. And still no spark. If it aint those two pin connectors? where are they? And i hope i did'nt damage anything by doing what i did if i was wrong.

I am really considering getting a stock distributor but i have no idea how to wire it. And its killing me because if i dont get it started i cant get it to my friends garage to change the oil pump and shaft to finally put it on the road and i am absolutely dieing to drive my stang
