urgent help!


i just put a new tranny in my car, and a new speedo cable but my speedometer is real bouncy on the dash, anyone know why??!?!

Did you properly secure the gear in place? Did you properly secure the cable in place to the frame/body?

Mine did that ever since the day I got it. . .until I worked on it last summer, pushed the cable out of the way and then twisted the shit out of the cable when I cranked up. Been on 0 mph ever since and the odometer doesn't spin.

The speedo bounces like that because the metal rod inside the cable that actually does the spinning needs some lubrication. You have to unhook the cable from the speedo up top and pull that metal rod thing out. Lube it up real good with some lithium grease and slider her back down in. Should take care of it. I think you can pull it out from the bottom too but but I have never done it. I have always done it from the top.
