New dynomax muffler any good?'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpeO5V762Rw

I'm looking for a high flow muffler with little to no drone. Up until recently this was a contradiction in terms. But you have flowmaster making the hushpower, and now this. But it looks... I don't know... like a gimmick. A freaking spring is the only way it operates. It just gets louder as you reach more RPM's. Hmm. That would indicate that its still going to have at least some drone at cruising speeds of 65 and 75mph. It would have to. That drone might be somewhat quieter than your standard drone, but it would still be there.

Thoughts?

I've heard very mixed reviews on them, but I've never actually heard one before. What I've read on several forums is that they have a decent Dynomax sound, but the trap door that's in them is prone to spring failure. I've also heard that at idle, and cruising throttle, there's just enough exhaust pressure to open the door, but not enough to keep it open, so the door basically "flaps," and since it closes metal on metal, it constantly makes a clanking sound.

I tell the truth. Deal with it.

I want to put one on my truck but I haven't because of that very thing. You should buy some and report back with your findings....lol

lol I'm the guy that usually lets everyone else guinea pig everything first.

But I might just go with some hushpowers instead. IF i can still come up with some way for it to be loud at times. Like some of those modern electric exhaust pipe valves. I remember the sucky old cable ones that you had to pull a cable to get that valve to open. I like the electric versions now.

Just run some hushpowers and don't open that valve unless you want it to be loud for a minute.

Just my $0.02.
I have Dynomax ultraflos, http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.php?...ultraflowelded. They are straight through perforated tube with very little restriction and there is very little drone compared to the regular flowmasters. Acceptable drone may be different for each of us. On this specific car, the flowmasters were unbearable. I did not get the ones with the valve for the reasons stated above.

I recently took off my Flomaster 3 chambers in favor of some Hooker Maximum Flow's, which is the same principal as a Dyno Max Ultra Flow or Magnaflow, Straight thru oval type muffler. My crusing drone is way, way better than the Flowmasters, & is alot quiter all around. I like them much better than the Flow's!

Are they still a little loud when you want them to be? Or is it just a quiet, high flow muffler? Unlike factory which would of course be a quiet, restrictive muffler.

Exhaust Drone is Completely Gone - Ford Mustang Forums : Corral.net Mustang Forum

if you dont feel like reading it cuz its rather long, it involves welding two capped resonators on each bank. they have to be a specific length so the sound waves bounce back 180 degrees out and cancel the drone

Ohh nice I'll dive off into that a little later. You know another thing I've always hated? That popping sound some cars make when they let off the gas. When they have a loud exhaust. Sounds cheap and poorly made to me. I find it to be lower class than exhaust that doesn't do it. It sounds like your method would also cure that as well.

Thats because of reduced/no back pressure isnt it?

I think that he's suffering some power loss due to the reduced back pressure. I heard that you do need the back pressure, but I can't remember how much.

That's a myth. Backpressure is a restriction. What you want is scavaging.

You like small block fords better than LSX? LSX seems to be what everyone wants these days.

But I always thought that if you bought awesome heads for a 393 or a 347 they'd be about the same.
