Eh im not a vert owner but it certainly seems like top down would create much more drag because of the large volume of air you are displacing inside the car and the wind resistance on those surfaces. So top up would seem to be more aerodynamic. Maybe someone else can offer experience on this.

im gonna assume top up, just so the air flow can follow the roofline as opposed to being sucked down into the cockpit right behind the windshield.. damn, i should be an aerodynamics engineer.

Top up like jeff said all the air going inside the car and creating alot of drag but with the top up the vinyl flaps alot at high speeds

start the race with the top up and at the 1/8 mile unlock it and put it down before you cross the finish.

just got 21mpg at 85 mph with the top down and a sun burn too.

if your top fabric is tight i would say top up. if your top is a sway back like mine i would say top down.

actually a type of air bubble is created in which the flowing air passes over it making it somewhat aerodynamic, but i would assume top up would still provide better dynamics

i would say top up, my brother has an 02 ls1 vert and we cruise the interstate at 110 usually and have done it both ways and it definatly was not a fun time with it down and we once tried to push it with top down but it was really draging and could tell didnt have much left.

Actually like mentioned b4 the air does form a sort of bubble over the car. There is a little buffeting but most of the air continues over the car.. So much for your engineer job...
