My friend is tryin to tell me that a 351 windsor is a crappy motor,I dont beleive his b/s please clear this up for me

Your friend is right.

j/k. The 351w is a good motor. Its not the greatest motor, but as far as getting power from a fox body and keeping it driveable, it is your best choice next to an aftermarket block. And if you go with an aftermarket 351 block, :award . What is he comparing it to?

Your friend is probably thinking of the 351 Cleveland. Most people feel that the 351 Windsor is far superior to the 351 Cleveland. The resources for modding a 351 are just so much more readily available for the 351 Windsor as opposed to the Cleveland. I am not saying that a Cleveland can not be fast but it will take more money and research to make it that way.

What year 351W are we talking about? Some of the earlier models had to have a kit installed for converting it over to roller block. The Lighting trucks were equipped with 351's and held the world’s fastest pickup unit the Dodge V-10 truck took those honors! The later year 351's have had great success in being stroked, boosted, or just as a crate motor and dropped into a Fox body. As with any engine combination the dependability of it is based on the quality of parts, the knowledge of the builder and the capabilities of the tuner. Almost forgot...how much money your are willing to part with! IMO your friend is wrong, read any Ford mag and there are cars with motors based on 351's. I do not believe that Ford would have trusted it to go into their premier SVT if it was a bad motor.

Its his motor and its a 79,he says its a piece of junk but he wont get rid of it
