First time with the new car at the track.

Well I took my recently purchased 89 lx to the track last weekend.
Short list of modifcations: edelbrock performer heads, cam, GT-40 intake, bassini x pipe (w/ cats), flowmaster 2-chambers, MSD 6 BTM ignition, comp cams roller rockers, 3.55 gears, BBK springs and upper and lower control arms, Hotckis front shocks w/ CC plates, 65 mm throttle body, C&L mass air meter, CAI, aluminum driveshaft, 4 core radiator, edelbrock water pump, a lot of weight and accessories removed, flaming river manual rack, G-force T-5, hurst shifter, rear disk brake conversion, kenny brown weld in subframe connectors, 30 lb/hr injectors, adjustable fuel regulator, a bunch of extra guages like A/F, vacuum/boost, oil pressure, water temp, fuel pressure.

This weekend I put a GT-40 Nitrous Express gemini twin plate kit on it jetted for 100hp and took her to the track. I only got 4 passes in because they were packed.

On the first pass I ran a 12.2 @ 115.7mph with a 1.8 60 foot time ON STREET TIRES 225/50/16 T/A KDWs!!!

My second pass wasn't as good since I got a little more aggressive with the street tires and spun through 1st, 2nd, and part of 3rd and still managed a 12.9

Luckily my buddy lent me his M/T 26 x 10.5s for a run. I still blew the tires off but I ran a solid 11.9 with a 1.67 60 foot time. See video

I also had one last run that I did with street tires and no nitrous, but only managed a 13.5 with a 2.17 60 foot time, really babied it out of the whole that time.

Anyway, I've got two 11 second mustangs now...I'm going to have to sell one or get one into the 10s...

Well, first of all it is an LX, and second, I didn't put the badges on there, I bought it like that. I actually didn't like them on there either, which is why I removed them on Sunday. A little fishing line and cleaner wax and I got rid of them. Unfortunately, there was no improvement in ET

I have heard a lot of rumors that three different colors of primer can shave at least a tenth in the quarter

I was going to say it looked more like a LX. I don't know about the primer thing, but did removing the antenna help any? I see you really whopped up on that Firebird. I think you might have the three colors of primer mixed with three coats of wax. That definitely helps.

Yeah, the antenna removal wasn't my modification either. All the sound deadening has been removed, the stereo, speakers, antenna, HVAC heater/blower controls, AC, smog pump, power steering, front bumper and supports, wipers and motor, other emissions stuff, and a few non essential interior pieces have been removed (before I bought it). The car isn't as light as I though it should be, it still weighs in at 2900 pounds! Probably all that wax!! I guess I did add 35 lbs or so with the nitrous system, plus I put the spare tire back in the car. So maybe 2850.

If you were running 12.0 at route 41, I'd be willing to bet you'll run at least 11.9 or better at Byron. They have kept the track pretty decent. I think they only have test and tune two weeks in August and I am going to be on vacation, so I will not be going again until September. I'll definitely let you know the next time we are going there.

BTW, my cousin came with me and ran his completely stock motor and 100 shot and ran a 12.7 with a 1.7 60 foot time! That was 1.3 seconds off his previous best time without the gas. He was using the $400 kit from DRP. Best bang for the buck right there!
