wanting some power gains
well i just bought my car. 94 cobra, ive been driving it now about a month and its fun but i want some more umph out of it. i was thinking about x pipes, CAI, and a throttle body. basically im trying to get it to breath better. i want to get the most out of my car without doing anything radically expensive. ide like to stay under $800 with mods. just put in your advice.
BTW- bought the car with 3.73's, short throw, and under pulleys...........so thats all she has |

The CAI and throttle body won't do much at all. I'd stick with the exhuast stuff first (headers, h or x pipe, and catback). Next would be gears, then I'd go for the induction stuff.

I would say focus on intake and exhaust getting more in and more out i thnk those to areas are a good way to start

with CAI and X pipe make a noticable difference? could you feel it much? the car already has flowmaster mufflers.

X-pipe would make a big difference (both in power and sound), CAI probably wouldn't be noticable.

without the CAI and cat back what else should run with x-pipes to get more power. i would be getting the O/R x pipe set up since there is no emm. in my area. i what thinking also of a rpm performer intake? yah or nay?
the car is quick but far from fast. both my buddies VW have beat me, 03 1.8L gti with minor mods, and a 96 VR6. i hate being beat by them thats the reasoning in this

You've already got a good intake on your car... no need to spend that much money on something that'll barely help with your current mods.
Here's what I'd do if I had a '94 Cobra (you've got some good first mods)... Longtube headers and matching h-pipe (yes I said h-pipe... will work alot better with your chambered mufflers... if you want an x-pipe you'd be happier changing mufflers to a straight through design to go along with it). That'll add 30-35 more horsepower. Aftermarket lower control arms, subframe connectors, and drag radials on the rear. The drag radials will give you significantly improved traction, the lower control arms will help keep the tires planted and eliminate any wheelhop, and the subframe connectors (get the long one's you weld in place) will keep your frame straight for more control and a twist-free chassis. The above should run you right around $800 and will make your car come out of the hole much harder (especially considering you've got gears), and the longtubes along will give you more power than you'd pickup from all the intake mods you can do put together. |

Definately long tubes and a h-pipe...that would be my recommendations...

You could easily get a nice nitrous wet kit for that kind of money too.

I would suggest getting the x pipe over the H pipe. I dont understand how the H pipe would helps make exhaust flow better then a x pipe.
Can someone tell my what CAI is? |
