347 for 2k?

I found a 347 stroker for $2k, it is in a local machine shop. It was dropped of for machine work and assembly and never picked up. It has been there 1 year. I am definitely buying it.

It has forged flat top pistons. a roller cam with 286 duration/542 lift. trick flow heads with 2.02/160 valves fully ported and polished, 1.6 aluminum roller rockers, guide plates. An edelbrock torker 2 intake, a 7qrt oil pan.

The machinist said it was a king cobra mexican block. It is 4 bolt main. I have never heard of a mexican block, is this a real block?

How much power could I expect from this engine? will it hold together? I know it was built right, my machinist does good work.

The Mexican block is a 2 bolt main. You can identify it by looking on the front left face. It will have two bosses. One even with the top of the oil filter hole and one a little lower. I guess they are presumed to be 25% stronger than a stock 302.

lol king cobra, obviously a chevy machine shop. Mexican blocks use a main cap that is 1 inch wide as compared to the puny 1/2 inch late model stuff. A bit more material in the main webs. The only factory 4 bolt block is a boss 302

well he may have been mistaken about the mexican thing, but it is 4 bolt main. I saw it for my self.

Anyone know what this engine would actually be worth?

well theres only a few possibilities, someone put 4 bolt main caps on it, or its a boss 302 block. If there is no intake on it, it says in bold letters in the lifter valley, Hencho En Mexico. As to its worth, thats impossible to say from this end

I would say the machine work, the kit, and installing the kit would be worth $2k to me, but who knows...

That is what i was thinking, the heads, cam, intake, etc. are just an added bonus.

all of the #s have been grinded off so I have no idea what kind of block it is, at least without pulling the intake. I have the oil pan off. My uncle says it looks like a boss block, but I have no ides

are the core plugs, what everyone calls freeze plugs the typical press in or are they large screw in plugs? You know theres 3 on each side of the block. Boss blocks had screw in freeze plugs
