Can oil pump shaft be swapped from the top??

i was told that it might be possible to change the oil pump shaft thru the top instead of the bottom of the car. I was told thru the distributor shaft after removing the dizzy i can pull the shaft out and replace.

Is this true?

i would git it a try as long as you place the shaft back in the oil pump when it goes back in you could do it with a oil primer

If its original from the factory, you can NOT remove it from the top. The washer on the shaft is for this exact reason, so many guys leave the washers off then get pissed and start new threads on forums about how they pulled there distributor and the pump shaft fell in the oil pan.
