Dart block, sbf dart heads, 1 7/8 kooks SWAP tips.


Ok my engine swap from a 306 to a dart block 363 with DART Pro 1 cnc 225 sbf heads...... problems & solutions.

1. DART sbf heads, pro 1 cnc 225/ have a svo 3" center to center bolt pattern on the exhaust regular headers will not work// nope and no one makes them except KOOKS here is the stock numbers and horse power
#3037 for 450hp #3038 for 550hp and 700+ hp #3039 with 3 1/2 collectors. Keith Craft sells them cheaper than Kooks,, trust me I have called every where. also if you need reducers summit has the flow master ball joint reducers so the headers will fit your exhaust n there in stock. but with the 3in collecters I really dont see enuf room? maybe i will need a new transmission k memeber. I cant fit exhaust as of now and with 13/8/1 compression we started it to tune the carb and the cops were there in five minutes...

2. if you have an electric water pump your alternator will not fit with out the march bracket. so you might wanna buy one. and if you only have your alternator running off your crank the belt size is 39 inches. oh and also a half an inch crank pulley spacer. with longer bolts.

3. for the super victor you prolly need the fitting to plug where the heater went.

4. if you use a race demon carburetor instead of and mighty demon, you will no longer have Vacuum, so you need to have manual brakes and Holcomb motor sports has a kit for 64.99 using your old master cylinder, and there adapter.

5. for the Dart heads the felpro 1262 r worked great..


6. For the Meziere Water pump on the dart block. we had to rotate the power wire to avoid the fan, be careful not to pull the top more than 1/4 of an inch or the springs in the coil will pop out and you will need a small gauge wire and some patience to put it back.

7. on a Dart block where the bell housing bolts up the holes do not go all the way thru so you will have to cut the bolts on the ones that don't have an exit, there shorter..

Kooks headers last 1 7/8 primary, on mine was hitting on the knuckle of my flaming river rack and pinion, I have beat the header as much as I can there is still .250 clearance issue with the nut and bolt on the knuckle. I have tried to adjust the shaft, shim the motor, and im going to try to shift the column// Solution beat the header a lil bought a low profile knuckle from summit. Flaming river makes it. and I had to drill the hole into the shaft to recess the bolts and shaved the bolts and nuts down with a grinder.

Welcome to the world of mustang customization.

I went through many of the same problems, plus about 20 others that would give you nightmares when I did my 351 clevor swap.

Try finding a set of headers for a 4V headed 351 clevor for a fox bodied mustang!! Then getting the rest of the exhaust to fit wasn't fun. The cops showed up at my shop a couple of times too because of noise complaints.

Swap accessory brackets for a 351 clevor??? I had to drill and tap my own holes in the head to mount my alternator bracket. that was a little nerve racking, no idea if I was going to drill into a water passage or not.

But in the end, you'll be more satisfied with the final product because you went the extra mile to figure things out and get it done.
