just curious where on the head unit did you hook that? I have a paxton and theres nothing on mine, i hooked mine into the tree thats on the fire wall also. I just used the one that was capped off seems to work just fine.

Mine is on the second one but that does not matter. All the boost gauge is doing is measuring vacuum and/or boost. You can attach it to just about any vacuum line and it should be fine. If you only have a boost gage (like 0 to 15 lb or similar), you will only see positive boost, if you only have a vacuum gage (like -30 to 0), you will only see vacuum, if you have a vacuum/boost gage, you will see the entire range negative and positive (like -30 to +15 or similar). If you decide to switch gages later, you can use all of your existing work and lines you already put in for your current gage.
Not sure what the port on your Paxton is for and why it is suggested to not use it for a gage. Maybe it is tied to the compressor output and can be used as an "accurate" source for an FMU or a boost retard which both are boost sensitive? Again, no idea.

Another thing to consider. With boost, you have to be more concerned with detonation. You may have to reduce your timing a bit. Stock is 10 degrees. Most people take it closer to 15. Although I have no experience with 5-6 lbs and your engine, I would think the factory setting of 10 degree would be a good starting point and you can raise it from there. Either way, keep that in mind.
