is it worth it to convert an 89 notch 2.3l to a 5.0l. How much needs to be changed out?

No! Just give me the notch and I will dispose of it for you.

J/k. Heck yeah if the notch is in good shape. That is the most common swap in a foxbody. That is the most desirable body of the foxes also. Go for it. Post some pics. We don't care if it has a motor or not.

Everything. Motor, tranny, d/s, comp, wiring harness, rear end, and whatever else you can get off it.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

thats if your switching to EFI neverfastenough

He doesnt need half of that if he's going carb.

you will need the entire drivetrain system, including engine, tranny, driveshaft and rear end

Motor mounts and fuel system

it's a very easy swap, do some reading and gain some basic info first on both engine's

Just finished that swap on a 90. Lots of work, but not terribly hard if you have mechanical skills.

I'm still working out some bugs, but i'd do it again. Everyone should do a full convert at least once!

I was kinda hoping if he was going carb, he would know he wouldn't need the comp and wiring harness, but if he has a donor car, he would be smarter to keep it EFI. Also gonna need the radiator.
