SERIOUS need of HELP. My Mechanic can't even Figure it out**

Ok.. I don't know why I didn't come here in the first place. I have a 95 5.0 GT and the last few days its been randomly cutting off while driving, and now while idling LOL and NOW When i stick the key in the ignition everything lights up turns on acts like its fine but when I turn the key there is plenty of sound but it just will NOT start.. it acts like it wants to but like something is not connecting. .November I put in a new Transmission, I changed my sparkplugs last week, I just yesterday had the fuel Pump and filter changed and he ordered an expensive a$$ inlet Gromett (65.99) because he said mine was busted.my mechanic said it would stop after that. it did for about and hour. but it went back to exactly what it was doing before it was fixed. I just graduated School and can't afford another random shelling out of hundreds of bucks. (lol this time cost me $600) but DANG IT if I must.. I love my BABY So ANY help will be greatly appreciated. Or if any of u have any questions I can ask him about the car just in case he hasn't figured something out. It sounds like it could be simple because my car works perfect other than this recent decline. As of today ( I had it towed back to the shop today his expense) he said it worked fine for thirty minutes THEN cut of.. and it makes no sense. He said I had no fuel pressure before (which is why he replaced the fuel pump and filter) and now its fixed (the pressure is plentiful now).. but I don't know WHATS goin on. Alot of you seem more knowleageable about my car than my mechanic (from what I have been readin) So anyone LOL Throw out all ya got- Ms. Minx

Classic signs of a faulty TFI and or PIP. Have him check for injector pulse.

Has your mechanic checked for codes? Did he just assume that the pump was still getting power because it was new, or did he check the pressure again? Did he check for power going to the pump before he replaced it to make sure it was the pump and not the computer? When you turn the key on, do you here a whining noise coming from the back? If you do, then the pump is working, but you need to check it when the car shuts off by itself.

Good Question... But i DID order a TFI from JEGS and a PIP from Advance just to replace em anyway. I will most Definitely have him check my codes...even though he said he has been running tests..trying to narrow things down, I think at this point he's guessing so I need to watch him.. I think i will bring my car home this weekend and if the TFI and PIP don't work break down and take it to Ford.

UPDATE

Ok.. Im picking up my car tomorrow.. He said after it cut off two days ago it hasn't been cutting off since?!?!?! I'm still Gonna replace the TFI and I had him check the Pressure of both pumps and he said the first pump definitely had barely to no pressure. Im pickin her up tomorrow so he has one more day with her. This is getting odd..

Usually the first thing even a shitty mechanic will check is spark, then a fuel pressure and volume check. If you have a 2nd inline pump, and the first one failed, there is no way that a pump can pull fuel through the in-tank pump with out the in-tank pump running.

I Agree

@ Darrell LMAO totally Agree... I've only had him a year he was good up until last week... his final verdict. "I think it's electrical, and I'm not sure It runs now but it may act up again" Needless to say my car is BACK with me HIS expense, (even though he didn't want it that way) But most definitely am writing down all these suggestions and tryin them this week. Cant wait til my stuff gets here. and to hear the verdict of these new tests I see I need... Geez What happened to folk (mechanics) just sayin I don't know and referring ya places..

my would cut off while driving then it would start right back up....it was the power wire to the starter grounding out on the header...which fried the starter

man i had the same exact probem on my f150 with a 302. Me and my dad were doing a resto job and half way through, this same exact problem you are having occured. We replaced the starter and ignition module and it worked no problem. I think that is what you need to do.

I have had problems with mechanics in the past. I found that Ford has pretty good techs; I have taken the car to them to get a diagnosis of the problem and then decide where I am going to get it fixed. Since I am not very knowledgeable with a wrench I have gone in the back to find the tech that would work on my car and ask him if they work on the side. I advise them that I would lend a hand so that I could learn about working on cars and they would get directly paid for it instead of the dealership getting all the money and just paying him hourly. I have gotten great deals and they knew what they were doing. Good luck with getting your steed back in running condition and congrats on graduating.

I have read through most of this forum and haven't seen anything to do with the computer or the Brain as it is called i had an older ford that did the same thing and it turned out to be the brain. You should check for spark if that good then check for gas normally the only other thing would be the brain.

OK PEOPLE GREAT AWESOME WONDERFUL NEWS. lol For those of you who read the original Question. I wrote a letter to corporate because I thought it was really Bogus I payed $600 and my car was still not workin. So How about their solution was for me to take it to Ford, and WHATEVEr fORD SAID WAS WRONG WITH IT tHEY WOULD PAY FOR IT. I was SOOO happy I did NOT expect that. My car will be back by this week. Ford told me I needed a new Distributor and MAF. So all will be well. I will Keep ya'll posted. and can't WAIT to take pics-Ms. Minx
