(Long) Drag Racers: Help a brotha out!

So here's the deal. The car (88 LX hatch) currently runs a pretty consistant 12.4 in the 1/4. I want to get it into the 10's (don't care if it is 10.99999 just want to see that 10!). Track elevation is 5320ft. Here is the current status:

Stock bottom end
Unknown Headers
A/C and pullies deleted
Aluminum Radiator and Electric Fan
Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads
Trick Flow Stage 2 cam - .542 int/.563 ex
Holley SystemMax II intake
Harland Sharp 1.6:1 Roller rockers
FRPP 65mm Throttle body
Holley Adjustable FPR

Moroso solid motor mounts
D&D tubular K-member
D&D tubular A-arms
D&D coil overs w/175# springs
Lakewood 90/10 struts and 50/50 shocks
Saleen polyurethane LCAs

8pt Rollbar
Centerline 15x8.5 rears with 26x10.5- 15 MT Drag Radials
Centerline 15x3.5 with 165/75-15 fronts
4.10 gears, spool

Stripped down as far as I could. Car only weighs 2400 pounds dry without driver.

So here's the caveat. I need to be able to drive it to the strip so I am going to have to add a full length exhaust and change out the spool for a locker. I know messing with the exhaust will probably mess with my ET a little. I am upgrading to 31 spines and C-clip eliminators when I change out the diff. Also plan on upgrading to an aluminum driveshaft for the weight and rotating mass advantage.

I have a NOS Dry stage II kit on the way. The Injectors and MAF are still stock. I've searched alot and have found differing opinions on whether or not to upgrade so I figured I'd ask the question myself. Was considering 24# injectors and matched MAF but not sure if it is necessary.

Any advice/recommendations greatly appreciated. Thanks!

im sure the spray should bring you down into the 11's

if your gonna spray, i would go 36# injectors...Maybe..

a 255lph FP for sure

and if you dont already have them, a good set of slicks would hook nice

and a tune if you dont already have one

Spray, stroke, and supporting mods like injectors, fuel pump , and MAF...

Try everything above except stroking it and see where it gets you...

A local guy just went 10.96 with this setup. I remembered reading it a few days ago...

"not much really stock bottom end, trickflow cam, edelbrock performer heads, rpm intake,750 carb.the heads really woke that car up and for those who dont believe in edelbrock parts should take along look at this.i had alot of people tell me not to use edelbrock parts but they are eating their words now.i guess eveything is working together.all i heard was afr's are the way to go but i was never really impressed with the afr heads.i think its just a name sometimes you have to go with what feels right and i had to just keep telling myself to go with what i wanted and not everyone else.i just wanted to prove a point with this setup.one thing you have to remember the car is on 235/60/15 drag radials so i am not getting all that power to the ground like it should it was still blowing the tires on the 10 sec pass.i dont have that big expensive suspension so im really happy with what its doing on those tires"

If your going to spray it with a dry shot then you for sure need to upgrade the injectors and MAF and fuel pump while your at it too. Get yourself some 36# injectors, a PMAS MAF calibrated for those 36# injectors, and a 255 LPH in tank pump. A tune will for sure help too since your messing with the injectors and MAF and your going to be spraying it. Also what kind of transmission you running all this power through? Hopefully not a T5 or AOD still because I doubt they will last long especially if your going to launch it on the spray. Just an obervation. I am guessing you have something built though since you have a spool.

+1 on the injectors, 30+ lb injectors is what you need, then a 200 hp wet kit and you'll be right there. At 10.9 Im guessing in the mid to high 120s mph. you might want to buy a 28" slick instead of the 26", if you have a stock ecu, then youll never make it past 6250rpm cutoff.

OH yea, find a track closer to sealevel.

Thanks for all the responses so far! I'm a little confused though. I've read in other threads here that even 24# injectors would make a car run too rich without major mods. Are my mods plus a NOS 05115-IINOS dry kit enough to justify 30+# injectors?
