Yes you will need a matching EGR spacer. Is the car stock? If you are running a fairly mild set up a throttle body will be a waste of money. You'd be better off sticking that money into a set of gears or exhaust.

So Darrell what you are saying is to wake up a stock 5.0 a set of 3.73's, a K&N filter, and a high flow catted h-pipe would do the trick.

What about adding an accel coil, 9 mm plug wires to the mix?

A new throttle body isn't always a bad idea. The stock ones are pretty small. It won't net you much at first, but you'll need one as you mod anyway. BBK makes a nice 70 or 75mm that come with the TPS and are pretty inexpensive. You do have to run the EGR spacer, only because the throttle cable bracket bolts to it. If you get a new throttle body, make sure you pick up a larger EGR spacer, or you're just pissing in the wind.

Yes.

I wouldn't mess with the stock ignition at this point. The stock TFI ignitions work great. A set of Accel 300+ or MSD wires would be a nice addition. Stay away from Ford Racing wires.

Thanks !! cause a I was just about to get a fresh set of Ford Racing Wires.

I am comparing the ride to my old 94 GT (5.0) . In stock form it ran so much tighter and seem to breathe so much better. Then again we are talking about a 7 year difference.

Darrell, why stay away from the FRPP racing wires? Just curious, I have never had any problems. As far as EGR, the only way I know you can get away from them is go to a Cobra intake. Then the Egr is built into the intake w/o the water jacket.

I have yet to see a set of Ford Racing wires that doesn't arc all over the place. I put two new sets on one of my cars a few years back. Both sets were junk. I shoved them both up the Ford dealers ass. Many times I have fixed cars for people that just installed Ford Racing wires and the car started running like shit.

And back to the original question, one of the mods that I definitely felt a difference in was the Headers combined with the exhaust. If your going to stay N/A, I'd get a set of equal length headers. But if you plan on boosting in the future just by some shortys. The exhaust work is a mod that is well worth the money. Quit choking that car and let it breathe!
