Your water neck seal must be no good

It may be the water pump itself, they have a small hole in the bottom of the neck that water will drip from and eventually pour out of when the shaft seal goes bad. This water may be running onto the timing cover. If that is the source, I'd suggest a new water pump now before it starts pouring out and you run dry. I'm sure each pump failure is different but I went about 200 miles from the drip to full stream.

what is the water pump seal. the leak sits between the block and the timing cover... not the water pump and timing cover

The water pump seal is internal to the water pump used to seal around the pump shaft. When the seal goes bad, water will drip out of a small hole in the neck of the water pump. This water can run on to the pump and on to the engine or be blown all over the front of the engine from the fan. Sounds like your leak is somewhere else.

Time cover gaskets go bad I just changed one on my 302 in my Bronco and My 89 mustang had one go bad a few years back. PITA to change too. Have to remove the front of the motor. Good time to pit on a new timing chain tho.
