surging idle help

I have a problem with my 87 mustang gt's idle it surges by about 400 rpms and them dies. I have tried just about everything from running codes to resetting base idle numerous times. Just curious if any of you guys have any ideas. I was told that idle issues can be worked out with a tune via a chip or pms type device is this true? Thanks for any help you guys can provide

IDLE ISSUES

Hey
I Had The Same Issue With My 94 Gt
I Cleaned The IAC (IDLE AIR CONTROL)
And Clean The MAF
That Stopped My Car From Dying Out
Sumtimes It Can Be A Fuel Pressure Regulator
U Can Hook Up A Guage And See If The Fuel Pressure Is Correct
I Would Clean The IAC and MAF
Hope This Helps

surging idle help

Ive actually replaced the mass air meter and the iac. I just got done spraying the vacume lines with card clean and the idle doesnt change so im beginning to rule out a vaccume leak. The only thing i can think of is a kink in the return line on the fuel tank when i swapped to the 255lph fuel pump. Is it possible to have a surging idle from that??

surging idle help

yeah the only reason i think the fuel line is because it was kinda in bad shape and after putting the pump in i find that i cant back the fuel pressure down with my adj regulator as low as i used to before the install, ive actually backed the screw almost out of the regulator and it still wont come down. idling my wideband stays around 10.0 and the fumes will drive you out of the garage.

try disconnecting and cleaning the "salt and pepper shakers" and by that i mean the two big wiring connectors on the top/backside of your plenum.
