heads

hey there folks i'm new to this forums and i was wishing to hear some opions. I am wanting to purchase a new set of heads to start the process of a top end build. i was wondering what a decent head to purchase was. I pretty much have it narrowed down to 4 heads.

thumper full port,hi rev springs milled .40

edelbrock vitor jr's.

trick flow twisted wedge

afr 185's..how true is it about piston notching?

i would like to run a cam that would allow me to keep my aod shifting at the same range which is 5k with a nice lope. i have some light mods here they are.

hooker headers full exhaust w/ cats 2.5 inch
14* timing bump
front sway bar removed
aod w/ shift kit shifts at 5k
4:10 gears
thanks in advance for the help. btw my build will look like this completed

heads ( need help there )
trick flow track heat intake 75 mm upper
intake spacer 3/4 inch
70mm throttle body with spacer
76mm mass conversion
afm power pipe
3000 stall converter
1.6 rockerstrick
trick flow timing chain and gears
tfs pushrods
i was looking at 3 cams: anderson fords n-51 cam, trick flow stage 2 or a having a custom grind per application but unsure where to go and the average cost. again any help would be great.

AFR Heads

i HAVE A 351 WINDSOR AND I HAVE AFR'S 185CC 61CC THAT ARE REALLY PRODUCTIVE AND ARE STRONG ENOUGH FOR 302-392 ENGINES THE PISTONS SHOULD HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH THESE HEADS I STRONGLY RECOMEND THEM.

You can not use afr 185s on a 302 with stock pistons they will have to be flycut! They have a 2.02 valve and stock pistons can only hold a 1.94.

I think trick flows are good and they have a nice stage 2 cam that should work w/o cutting the pistons. But if you are wanting high compression you should see how much room you are working with.

I think (not sure though) trick flow tw wedge heads are the only aftermarket heads with a 2.02 valve that will work with stock pistons. But afrs will not work unless they are the 165s.

unless you are stroking or supercharging or turbocharging the motor then yu would not need the afr 185s. get the 165s.

They are way to big of a head for a 302 if theres no poweradders or stroking going on.
