yes, well ported the explorer intake will out flow a cobra. Well ported means alot of time, so much time that you'll be happy to just by a performer or somthing like that.

intake

well let me ask you this. would the explorer intake handle a mild build and allow 300hp or would i be starving the engine with that on the top end. heres what i have in mind.
e7 ported heads. oversized valves milled .40 w/ hi rev springs
65mm t/b
headers
smog/ac delete
headers/o/r h/flow master 2 chamber
1.7 rr
tfs stage 1 cam
100 shot n2o

im trying to keep my power band in the idle to 5 k range i have a shift kit thats shimmed to shift at the current peak of power which is 5k rpm. i'm just worried that with the above set up the explorer or ho ported would hold me back. what do you guys think?.

It's really hard to make 300 whp with E7s, almost impossible.(with out the n20) the intake will work fine to 5k though, I think stock they flow in the 220 cfm range, as for stock E7s, a whopin 150 cfms, ported mabe 175-185.

interesting so maybe ill stick with a ported ho or explorer intake and buy a good set of heads. i have been looking at the tf twisted wedge but the afr 165's seem to be a better bang for the buck. whats the big deal with the gt40 heads and having them ported??

GT40S are just a good set of heads for a guy on a budget but will never be as good as a set of aftermarket ones.

Its really your choice b/c they will both work with stock pistons. The twisted wedge heads will work great with the street heat intake, trick flow makes an engine kit with everything that your lookin for tfs stage 1 cam,tw heads,so on and so on heres a link http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

well also do to the twisted wedge design, there the only heads you can run 2.02" valves and not to play around with the pistons..great easy bolt on pwr..trick flow track heat "black" FTW
