Transmission Help!!!

Hi everyone I am new to this forum and I have some questions for all you other Mustang nuts. I have an 89 5.0 with a lot of work done but I am running into some transmission problems and questions. I have an AOD and it is very built (red alto clutches and kolene steels) the whole works. But I am having trouble finding a valve body set up that works. I know the 91 and later AOD's have a 1,2,D, OD shift pattern. Would I be able to use that shifter and one of those valve bodies on my AOD trans??? Any help is very much appreciated as this is the only thing keeping me from being able to drive my car.

Well the only problem is no one makes an aftermarket shifter that has the shift pattern I want..My valve body and shifter as of now are set up 1, D, OD...But yhe 4 cyl's AOD has a valve body and shifter with the pattern of 1,2,D, OD...So on a 4 cyl you can shift all 4 gears individually...But on a V8 you can only do 1 3 4 so you lose the ability to keep it in second which makes drag racing a bear...

Yea I almost bought that shifter too...But it only does the 1, D, OD shift pattern and thats not what I want. I called B&M personally and talked to their tech dept. That shifter still does the exact same thing as my stock so I dont see spending $300 on it for still no 2nd gear...

if there isnt a shifter designed for aod that has a 2nd gear select then ur shit out of luck. and i dont see how it does only 1d and od because if u get the same shifter for the sn95 new edge it has 1-4 R N D r u sure your not mistaken?

See thats why I am confused I have a 1993 4 cyl Mustang with an AOD and it has a shifter that says 1,2,D, OD which means 1,2,3,4...But my 89 V8 says 1,D,OD so 1,3,4...So I have a 93 AOD with the shift pattern I want but obviously the bell housing is different...So I am trying to find out if I can use the 93 AOD valve body, shift linkage, and shifter to make my V8 shift all 4 gears seperate...But I dont know if the Valve bodies are the same and will work in either trans or not???

AOD is AOD the valve bodys are the same the shifter and linkage is not. just like on my new edge i ad a shifter that has 1-4 D N R P and i have a 4 gear selection only change is the shifter. its all in the shifter the linkage and the install kit. so call B&M ask them bout the ratchet shifter and see if it will work for you
