This is strange!

I only drive my car in fair weather, but today it started raining on the way home so I turned on my lights and wipers. When I looked down at my gauges on down the road I noticed my temp gauge reading 3/4 up the gauge towards hot. I pulled over and shut the engine down and when I started it back up the gauge was normal, but when I turned my lights back on it went back up towards hot and then creeped up more when I turned my wipers back on. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you repair it? Thanks for any help........Jerry

let me explain more

I guess I should have made myself more clear, no the car is not actually running hot. I know this is an electrical problem. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if they have how they repaired it. I just went outside a few minutes ago, the car has been sitting for 5 hours now, it is cool.....130 degrees. I turned on the lights and the gauge imediately went to about 150-160, then I turned on the wipers and A/C fan and it went up to about 180 degrees, this is when the engine has only ran for 2 mins. When all this was turned off it went back down to 130 degrees. It seems that the more current that is being drawn by the electrical system the more the gauge wigs out. Thanks for any help, Jerry
