I've got 275/40's on 17x9, so you shouldn't have a problem with clearance with the 16x7's. You should be able to run the biggest tire you can fit on a 7" rim which is going to be around a 245 or 255. If you go any bigger than that, the sidewalls will have to stretch to reach the rim and it won't look right.

Depends on your wheel offset, the stance of your car, whether you have quad shocks or not, etc...

Also the metric numbers on tires are all but meaningless, one 245 wide tire could be 7 inches wide and another brand 245 tire could be 9 inches wide. The width of your wheel also comes into play.

But somewhere between 245 to 275 is most likely.

How do you figure that? 245 is the section width of the tire which is 245mm. You might get variations of about 5-10mm, but you'll never get a 2 inch variation between two different 245 tires.

He said the car has not been lowered, and you won't have clearance issues with the quad shocks until you go into the 265/275 range, unless you are running a rim with about 8 inches of backspacing...lol.

Dude, 245 is an estimate. Period. Manufacturers can make a 245 tire however wide they want.

Also, I have 245 wide tires and quad shocks on my 89 and they rub at high suspension travel.
