You'll need just about everything drivetrain-wise from a 94-95 GT or Cobra.

You'll need:
Engine
Front End Accessories
94-95 K-Member
Motor Mounts
Flywheel
CLutch
Transmission (the v6 tranny has a low torque rating...it'll bolt up, but wont last long)
Driveshaft
Rear End (the 7.5 again will bolt up, but wont last long at ALL)
ECU (unless Carbureted)
Return-Style Fuel System (Unless Carbureted)]
and more...

Im assuming all of the parts and labor will run you at least $4000.. To be honest, it'd probably just be more cost effective to go buy a V8 mustang unless you can find a cheap donor 94-95 GT, but again you'd still be buying a V8 mustang.

yeaa your going to def need a donor gt cause your going to need everything..find the cheapest one you can at a junk yard. your best bet is to do that cause your going to need everything..im not experienced at al lwith this year or efi but i know your going to need the computer and harness and everything from the radiator on back to the rear end. its going to be one helluva project i can tell you that right now. take your time and dont rush it cause when your done you might run into a problem and you have to back track it and that will suck..gl

btw im not trying to bust your bubble but with the moeny your going to put into this depending on what you want out of it you might be better off sticking with the v6. if you jsut want a street car you can always upgrade the v6 the best you can and spray it. idk its all up to you.

ok....

If you really want to get a 5.0 You should have one built to your specs... I know you said you only want to spend like a grand, but remember you get what you pay for. If you want a really nice engine you can get one from D N' D MOTORSPORTS. Look at my pic that is the engine that I just had built for me....

Alot of people dont have your money to have one built to their specs and plus he would spend 4 +grand just to transplant a junkyard 5.0 into his 01.

I'm sorry I wasnt trying to sound cocky trust me I dont have alot of money. My car is a project it took me a long time to get what I have. I bet everyone here makes at least twice as much as I do...lol! But I understand It would probably help him if he could do alot of the work himself and, or have friends help out.... That's what I am doing..

yea man not a lot of peopel can get a junk yard 302 and take it apart and get machine work and all aftermarket parts in one shot. your best bet is do you like most of us said get a donor and just bargain with whatever place you get it from. tell them how much you have to spend on the donor. trust me they want to get rid of it as much as you wanna buy it. but if you have like 4 grand to spend on a swap i would sell your v6 get like 2 g's for that then get a fox for like 2-3 grand in good condition. then with the leftover money which lets say is 3 grand you can start going with some aftermarkte parts. and you can have the same deal as you would with a swap for less money and come out even better.

Definatley agree you could get some really nice deals on 5.0 engines from salvage yards or you could try ebay I saw a 5.0 and t-5 together for like 500.00 the other day and they had like 80,000 miles on them. I know not everyone can do what I did and I dont want to step on anyone's toes. These guys are right on though you should get that motor and sell your car for like 3500 thats what I have been seeing them go for in good condition. Even with high mileage, then check out some fox body stangs or even a notch. Look for a 2.3 and you can find them for like 500.00 sometimes do a 5.0 swap on it and you will have a nice and non exspensive fox with alot of potential!
