High idle

What all can cause it? IAC? Sticky throttle cable? Anything else? My cable seems okay and swapped the iac motor with one off another car. Not to say that one isn't bad as well. But idle won't go below 1500-1800 rpm. I can drive down the road at 25 mph in 3rd gear and not even have to press the gas and I'll stay the same speed without slowing down. Annoying. Clues anyone? Thanks.

Doesn't help.

It started doing it right after I adjusted my timing. Only way I can get it to go down is by retarding the timing. Have new distributor and module on the car as well.

93 cause I tried bumping the timing up to 14. Dropped the timing back down though cause idle went so high. But when I dropped it back down. The car barely wanted to run when I hit the gas.

Nah, about to. Had to go to town with my g/f. I know that the tps isn't suppose to be adjustable on a stock tb but do ya'll do it anyway if you're having problems or other mods that'd maybe warrant the need?

For a problem like you're having, it isn't a matter of adjustment.

Changed the tps. Didn't change anything. Ecu wouldn't need to be reset would it? I'd think that if it was the tps, that it'd just start running right if I changed it and it were the problem. Guessing I might need to go and pull codes.....again. Sigh........

Maybe this link will help. You might try cleaning your ten pin connector (white and black sensors on the back of the upper intake) like it suggest a little further down on the page. The white helps control several different things, the TPS being included.

I didn't try that yet cause I haven't messed with it when the idle started going high. So wasn't thinking that would be it, being that I haven't messed with it. Figured it'd have to be something electrical and since it goes up and down with the adjustment of the distributor. The idle is constant though. It doesn't jump up and down. It's just that it's high.

Thanks for the link 89StAngerLX, I'll be checking all that stuff tonight. Of course pulling codes again will be the 1st thing.

I hate OBD1. Tried to do the codes and trying to figure out what the last codes are. This is how I counted it.

IIIIIIII / II / IIIIIIII / II / I / I / IIII / I / IIII

I gather that the 1st part is 82. But can't tell the part after that. 114 and 14? Just 14? Heck I dunno. Ughhh....
