h pipe modification


does anyone know if you can cut an h pipe made for shorties to fit long tube headers?

You can cut anything to fit if you have a sawzall and a welder.

Yes. I did just this modification in making my shorty H pipe fit my Mac long tubes. I had to cut about 2' off the front and about 6" in on the passenger side, but it is cheaper than buying a new midpipe.

I added a tuned H-pipe to my 5.0,....To find the position it needs to be in,get some cheap black paint and paint the exhaust pipes from the headers back....where it stops "baking" off is the optimum are for X or H pipes. It has to do with the density of the gasses. My local exhaust guru of 30 yrs taught me that trick....from the factory H to the present, it added a noticeable difference sound and seems to have addded to performance...It just may all be in my head...dunno...but its worth a try.
