speedo
the 87 gt i bought has a problem with the speedo and odometer. neither one of them move at all. is it gear driven because i cant find any wires or anything disconnected.

try changing your speedo gear on your transmission.

i thought that could be ill check that out pretty soon i hope. the guy that had it before me had the dash out and i thought he might have screwed something up.

if it's the speedo and the odometer it's more than likely the speedo gear.
it's a cheap fix though. Which is good. |

Just joshin' man! Easiest fix is the gear on the transmission (if that's the case) and if not, follow the cable from that gear up to the firewall. When I said my cabled was "busted" I meant it - the actual cable split through the rubber. If you find something like that or a bad kink, that's the problem. Only other problem could be in the cluster. . . but I don't even want to think about that. |

im not really too worried about it, i just wanted to know what it could be so i could try and fix it later on.

yeah, or it could be the drive gear in the transmission, like in my case.
Then all you have to do is pull the transmission and take the tailshaft off...piece of cake!
