speakers

hey
well sony isnt 2 bad
its a middle brand
if u dont want 2 return it cuz its already installed
buy a mono amp
and bridge your speakers off the amp
u can really bring out your speakers potential with an amp
even aftermarket headunits cant push enough watts 2 power them 2 the volume and clarity u would like
i bought infinity front speakers
and kicker for the rears
u can rig up the fronts so u can purchase a larger speaker
but if u dont have time or want 2 make mods
stick with the stock size
i would buy an alpine or eclipse headunit
they kick ass
if u need any help let me kno

We're in this together, until the bitter end.

I haven't replaced mine, but when I took out the rear speaker to examine it, it looked very small. I swear I read somewhere that they were 5x7.

Different generation body style dude. Just because we both have 302s doesn't guarantee anything about speakers.

EDIT: Ok, didn't see it's an 88 hatch. But that's probably premium sound option vs stock speakers.

Yeah, that's what will fit. That's not stock. Incidentally, they also list this:

"Sony 5" x 7" 2-Way Speakers (XSGT5725A)"

If you plug in a 90 Hatch.

i tried putting pioneer 4 way 6x9's in the rear yesterday.....there is no way you can get them to fit, that is if you want to put the cover back on right and not drill the shit out of your car

Well everyone is right and wrong in the same perspective. Because It actually depends on what brand your speakers are. For example in my 91 gt I got all kicker stuff. I had to put 5x7's in the rear because the magnet was to big on the 6x9's are to big. I was able to fit 6x8's from pioneer because their magnets are not as big as some brands like kicker and alpine. I agree with most of the people here pioneer is better than sony sound quality wise. Someone has to explain to this guy that the wattage on the box is max wattage and that means they can only handle that for a brief musical burst. Also crutchfield says like 6&1/2 in the doors but 5 and 1/4 fit so much better if you want your window to go all the way down still again it goes back to the magnet size.....
