Trickflow problems....

Well i bought a JLT Ram air tube, 75mm professional products TB and EGR, Trickflow upper and lower street heat, trickflow valve covers, 1 inch spacer, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator on SN95 fuel rails, new gaskets, coolant service with water wetter. Put it all on and fired it up, and it sputtered and then came out of it quick once it got fuel.

It is used but only for a very short time with a s/c, heads and f-cam. Then he went to a 347 KB setup. So i bought it.

Questions....at idle is makes a horrible high pitched noise from the intake. If i put my ear on the flow part of "trick flow " i can hear it bad. When i throttle it up, the noise goes away. Drove it up the road and didnt really get into it, but feels very sluggish. No coolant in the oil or anything. I dont know exactly what the pressure is comming through because i dont have a gauge right now. I installed one but it doesnt work.

Any one have any kinda ideas....please?

Casper.

Im pretty much pissed off. And have no plans on driving it. Im really serious. I have heard the "BBK" throttle body whistle....This isnt a throttle body whistle. Unless Professional products does it too. The noise is horrible and its making me nervous. The car really isnt very powerful anymore.

Vaccum lines are black from tree and fuel regulator in the back of the intake. one for pcv in back, and one to the drivers side black tree. Then on the front of the intake one for emmisions and the other barb is blocked off.

When im idling at a stop light...the high pitched screech can be heard in the car. Im really nervous to drive it.

Another dude just said his Holley whistles, BBK does, Accufab does and MAC. I have never had this problem before and the guy before me said it never whistled. he had a blower on it. I have it too now, but its not installed. Wouldnt the whistle from the TB only come when the throtttle is opened? Not when its closed? The noise never goes away until im in the throttle.

sounds like theres a leak in the TB...you know the flap (cant think of the technical word right now) inside the TB...it maybe offset and leaking air...causing a whistle...cuz 1st of the sound of the engine reving is gunna blank out that noise..but becuase the "flap" is open, no leak so wont whistle..

and i've hand NO problems with Holley, had a MAC but this holley's alot better and i ran a BBK for a couple days and it sucked..but it didnt whistle..

Well, im i guess you could say a bit cry baby-ish. It doesnt run right and im not satisfied. Im not driving it. Its not perfect and the only way im going to be satified if someone else i meet can let me hear theirs. Im just so mad.

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ake-combo.html

That i guess is the same thing as me. Its just VERY loud. I'll just waste some money and put on a Accufab. Or i guess i can try a Holley. People say they still make noise, but i guess its worth a try.

Thanks fellahs.

Well, i finally got over that damn noise. But now it starts very hard. Could it have anything to do with fuel pressure? I dont know what its set at, but i will check when i get back to work on monday. Im gonna recheck timing and fuel pressure. And it feels like im driving a 4cyl mustang. This thing makes NO power up top. It pulls decent from idle to around 3500rpms.....then just falls on its face hard, and flatlines all the way up to 5k....and it takes FOREVER to get there. Rather frusterating. Im thinking about taking off everything i just put on and going back to stock. Im lost....

What do you mean starts hard? Does it take a long time to fire up or does it turn over really hard? Does it run hot at all? Does it puff any black smoke? It sounds like your timing is way retarded by what you are describing. I also just read your original post and seen that the noise goes away when you step on the gas. I misunderstood when I first read that post. The noise I was referring to is noticeable when driving, not just idling. You might have a major vacuum leak around the intake or have a cracked vacuum line or open vacuum port. When you step on the throttle manifold vacuum drops to zero which would make the noise go away if it is a vacuum leak. At idle vacuum is high so the noise would be very noticeable. Get yourself some carb cleaner and spray all around the mating surfaces on the intake as well as the vacuum hoses. If the engine idle increases when you spray a surface with carb cleaner you have a vacuum leak at that spot.

Like Darrell said, it is probably a vacuum leak, use some carb cleaner, and you will definitely be able to tell where the leak is coming from...

If you do decide to get a REAL throttle body, get an Accufab, dont mess with other junk.

Thanks guys. The person i bought it from said its the intake, just the way Trickflows are ?

Also I make decent power up until 3500ish...then it just falls on its face. Its really shitty because off the line its good.....then i look like a loser making alot of noise and not going anywhere.

It just cranks then finally starts...probably fuel pressure. No smoke, no fuel smell, doesnt run hot at all. Gonna check timing, but it was at 7 degrees when i bought it and it felt kinda the same way. I know what you mean by timing. But now its at 12 degrees because of the stock plugs wires and crappy gas making it ping. So i put all new ignition on it. So i might pick it up to 14. But for now im just stumped.

When you talk about vaccum im gonna really check the car over tmrw. But..as far as vaccum noise...the noise is deff. 100% comming from the center on the intake. Possibility that i put the hoses wrong on the bottom of the intake....but all the ports would give me good vaccum. right ? No Matter where i put the hoses on the intake fittings wouldnt i get the same amount everywhere ? I will spray the intake down tmrw just incase for a gasket problem.

I'll let you know tmrw how it turns out. Also first start ups in the morning it dies about....5-6 times before it will stay running.

PICS!
