Everyone goes X-pipe / H-pipe. Why not straight?

This question has burning inside of me for few weeks now.

Why does everyone has/goes either with a mid x-pipe or H-pipe?

Why dont i see people with true dual? Me i have two 2 1/2 straight pipes going to 2 flowmasters.

A crossover midpipe balances exhaust pressure between our engines left and right cylinder banks. The result is better flow compared to "true duals."

*EDIT* bleh, need to learn to type....
