short block differs from a long block how?


i was wondering what the differences were between a long block and a short block b/c i was looking to put a new motor in my notch and the short blocks were a lot cheaper, im only 16 and trying to get to know more about mustangs

ha man i remember when i asked myself this question i think i was 16 too ...anyway a shortblock is the block with the rotating assembly in it (pistons rods crank ect.) and a long block has all that plus heads can and valvetrain.. explains why it is more expensive

and a shortblock is usually WITHOUT a cam too.

probably an already assembled long block...

Personally, i would find a short block you want, and then get a top end you want...

because if you go cheaper, it is definitely not better..and it might have a shitty cam in it, or something else you dont want...

find a short block and build it, then you know you are getting exactly what you want and you can build t to do exactly what you want it to do

dss isnt too bad either, they also have dart blocks too...i think i found a 347 stroker bullet shortblock from them balanced for $1799.99...not bad..and the darts start near $3k

but that block has 5.4 rods rather than the 5.315 jordan, and has TW pistons..i cant find any 5.315 rods anywhere?

actually i was there today and they rate the bullets to 450+...well the stock 302 is 500...but i only need to get to about 400-450 anyways...and CHP doesnt give any prices on those..

the street fighter kit is 800 or 900 and the street fighter pro is a little over 1100

I was meaning the pro bullet and super pro,I just cant believe they rate a stock block to 650 +hp
