Head gasket...most likely...
If your valves are set too tight they will not close all the way and you will have no compression. For a hydraulic cam, set the valves 1/4 to 1/2 turn past zero lash (when you can no longer freely spin the pushrods with your fingers). Adjust the intake valve when the exhaust valve is just starting to open. Adjust the exhaust valve when the intake valve is closing. This will assure that you are on the base circle of the cam when you are adjusting. If you have pedestal mount rockers, you will need to use shims to get them set correctly, same 1/4 to 1/2 turn, but if it is more than that, put a shim under the rocker and try again until you get it right.

how are you adjusting the valves?
Do you have pedestal mount rockers or stud mount? What kind of heads are on it? maybe your valves were never correctly adjusted when you put the heads on it. but a compression of 0 points to some major problem...like a seriously blown head gasket, a broken piston, or bent or maladjusted valves. |

well the car hasnt ran since the head swap. they are edelbrock performer heads. before the swap the car ran fine i actually kept up with 5spd bolt on 5.0's in my stock notchback.is there any way to tell if the valves or bent or maladjusted>? im new to most of this never ran into a problem like this before so i dont know what to do
the head gaskets were brand new and i torqued the heads to spec and torque sequence

Did you retorque the head gaskets? Did you check the block mating surface for straightness? If the car has never started, it is unlikely that it is the gaskets...but it is still a possibility.
Yeah, most likely you didn't adjust the valve train correctly. 1/4 to 1/2 turn past zero lash when the valves are completely closed. Anymore than that and your valves will hang open. If you aren't sure what you are doing, have someone with experience adjust them. One of my friends destroyed three camshafts because he thought he knew how to adjust the valves... While you are checking the valves watch for any type of binding in the valve train.
