NEED SUM HELP ASAP


Hey Im Installin BBK Chrome Shorty Equal Length Headers
I Just Finished Bolting The Drivers Side On
And Put New Plugs And Gasket On There
That Was A Bitch And A Half
Couldnt Get The New Ones Underneath And Up
So I Had 2 Go From Top And Down
Do A Dislocated Finger And Alot Of Aggervation Its Not Bolted Down
Thank God
So Now For The Passenger Side
This Looks Like Its Hella Hard
Alot Of Fuel Pressure Lines, Intake, Tons Of Wires And Shit

When I Started This Project I Had A Question 2 Begin With
There Is Like An H- pipe On The Car And In The Middle Where The 2 Pieces Connect
There Is Like A 1/4- 1/2 inch thick tube that is connected to the part that it connects and runs all the way up into the engine sumwhere
just wondering what this is?
also does any one kno if i start taking all the lines/wires/intake off the top is there enough clearance to take the old manifold out and drop the new headers in

LET ME KNO WHAT I SHOULD DO

It is called an exhaust flange or exhaust gasket.

not sure on your second question.. maybe someone that has installed headers on a v6 might help.

and go fix your finger before you lose it.
a dislocation on the finger is no joke because you can pinch nerves and it's already one of the weakest circulation points of the body.

the 1/4 inch pipe is your smog pump crap and you might have to lift your motor up a little to get them in

the smog tube comes off really easy....so i think...took me 10 min. to get the whole thing off, it should just slide out of your exaust

sounds like the smog to me too...get rid of it. Plug the holes, and run a shorter belt...

hey
yea i think its the smog also
does it unplug from the engine side half
cuz its like welded on to the h-pipe
do i even need the smog pump on my car?
if worst comes to worse what happens if i saw the pipe close 2 where it connects to my h-pipe and maybe weld it later
cuz that pipe is holding me up from havin my h-pipe drop down
does anyone kno if it is still possible 2 get the old and new headers in from the bottom instead of the top
or is the top easier
but there is so much shit to take off and unplug

alot of people take the smog crap off and crimp the hose that goes to your exhaust ....you dont need it i took mine off its just extra space taken up

update!!!
well i unbolted the old passenger side header
then disconnected cold air intake and cum smog shit
slid the header out from the top
came out nicely
and the new header went in nicely also
when i was taking the stock header off
there was a steel/aluminum tube that had nuts on the top and bottom
then was connected to the stock manifold and run up to behind the elbow of my trick flow intake
not 2 sure what this is
is this the EGR?
do i need this ?
on the new headers it dosent have a spot 2 hook up
so j/w if i can take it off and put a new closeoff nut on it ?
let me kno
cuz i wanna fire her up by 5

does it go through the fire wall? if so this is your heater hoses and if you want heat then you want to keep them if not take em out

hey
no it doesnt go thru the firewall
it goes to the back of the intake elbow
right after the throttle body
there is 2 bolts that connects it to the back of the elbow
and than ran down and connected to the old header
the pipe cracked when i tryed to loosein the nut
so there is a hole right now
why can this be
and is it okay 2 run with it like this

UPDATE HELP !!!!!!


hey
well i finished boltin everything up
like 1 small leak
but not 2 worried about it
ill tighin up everything later
i checked over everything and im sure i plugged everything in
i started it up and everything idled great
took it for a spin with my buddy
and the throttle response sucked ass
it was laggin alot
and then after like 5 min through my check engine light
im prettry sure its the EGR
i did sum research on it
and im def and HOPEIN that thats the reason why the accelaration was god awful
well im going 2 go to the local hi-pre shop and get the EGR delete
will this solve my problem
does anyone have a site that shows me everything smog related that i can get rid of ?
let me kno ASAP

that hose and clamp in the second pic is your smog shit////////take it off and run a shorter belt....it helps

hey
there is no belt on those pics
thats the pic where the egr connects to the back on the intake elbow
im machinin my own egr delete block off for that
im going 2 leave that part unplugged that pluged into that
does anyone kno if thats the reason why my car feels like a HONDA CIVIC
i had my car runnin pretty quick with the new gear and nitrous
and now i thought that addin headers would get me sum more pop
turns out 2 be a pain in my ass
the only mods i did when installin the headers
were puttin in autolite 24 plugs gapped to 0.040
everything seems 2 be plugged in correctly

the car feels like its missin sumthin
alot of power takin away
i used 2 be able 2 spin thru 1-3
and now i can bearly spin 1st
whats my prob
NEED HELP ASAP

i know i mean run a shorter BELT the only belt.....take the smog pump itself off and get a shorter serpentine belt, it reduces drag...and i hope you tightened that header bolt the rest of the way, as for the power.....what octane gas are you running,

hey
im running 93 octane
the only smog thing that i took off was the EGR part
that connects to the back of the intake elbow
im makin a block off plate
hopefully that will give me the response back
do i have 2 run a shorter belt
cuz i dont kno what 2 take off
and i wanna leave it there for right now
and get this other problem fixed

the reason he said get a smaller belt is only if you took your smog pump off if you didnt then you dont need to do anything

and if you dont want to take the shit off.....you can still measure your belt pattern just ignore the smog pump, and run the belt straight form the crank to the alt. or waterpump to alt, like mine was im asuming your is the same????? and you may have to get underive pulleys to get the belt to clear, if you havent already

on all the smog/egr shit that i can take off
im also gettin rid of all the ac components
let me kno what i can get rid of
tryin 2 free up sum space and make my engine look cleaner
with eveythin gone
all this stuff is useless 2 me
no 1 needs AC with a mustang
let me kno bout all the smog info

to get the smog off, take the bracket that holds the pump off unless its holding somethin else....then take the tubes and pipes that are connected to the pump, just follow them wherever the go until youve taken it all off, when its all gone just cover up or plug the remaining holes until till you can weld them or something.....there should only be one hole to plug, the one in you exaust h or x pipe wil be fine open
