347? about rod & piston combo

All of the kits for 347 strokers have 5.400" rod and piston combos. So what type of piston is everyone running with a 5.315" rod? With a .085" shorter rod that leaves the piston way too low in the bore. So will a 331 piston skirt clear the crank so the piston pin to deck height is closer to being right. There would still be a .010" differance but a lower compression ratio would be ok to me as long as they will clear with no major issues.

and OK..than go with a 7" rod and fudge the block????

5.315 is safe..the 5.4 is OK..but may cause problems..

The reason I'm trying to find out is because I'm looking into a couple of differant parts combo's instead of just an off the shelf "kit". I have about 3 weeks left untill I shell out the cash and I'm looking into every combonation possible that will work for my needs.

dont buy a forged crank,3.4 in stroke you will also need to clearance the block 0.065 where the rods wont hit it.rods are 5.4 or 5.315 the 5.4 are not as bad as everyone says they are and buy forged.pistons are 4.030 and you should buy forged

after all that you'll spend over 2500..just go and buy an CHP shortblock for like $2200..fully balanced and everything...

Why do you want to run a 5.315 rod?

I don't nessisaraly want to run the 5.315 rods I'm just looking into options. The cool thing is I got my lady on board with this whole thing now and it's looking like a new block is coming in the near future. I convinced her I need to get a boss 302 block to really get where I need to be . I know it's not a Dart block but it's way better then a stock 302 block by far. So now I need to look into a forged crank to add all the stuff I was looking into for the rest of the build up.
