lower intake


is it necessery to use permatex with the lower intake gaskets or can i put them on dry. they are felpro gaskets.

you can put them on dry. i like to use a little to get the gasket to stick to the intake while i put it in place. you will need to use the rtv on the front and back though (especially in the corners) since there will be a good sized gap there.

Are you talking about where the upper and lower intake meet?

If so, i would use both.

im just asking because i already put it on and i didnt use any permatex. but the front and rear ones didnt leave any gap. everything went on really well. of course i havent started it yet.

usually the corners (where the front or rear gaskets meet the intake port gaskets) will leak. vacuum leak will cause an irradic idle especially when warm plus afew other driveability quirks if its bad enough. if you have trouble you'll just need redo it with rtv to fix it.

most likely, to be honest i wouldnt even run it without the rtv on the front/ rear and corners..

+1 It will leak oil so bad, they leak bad if there not seated properly, let alone not there alltogether.

i know..it may not be visable to the eyes throw all thats stuff in the way but its there...it will be like a basketball size whole in a pool...
