IAC? Check all the vacuum hoses and look for leaks?

check the linkage uder the throttle body, make sure it isnt caught on anything. loosen the nut that sits behind the spring in the throttle cable( underneath the tb), not the idle set screw. if all else loosen mess around with the idle set screw with the engine running. also lubricate all the linkage.

linkage is catching on something or the TB blade is getting stuck open. otherwise it is likely that you have an intermittant open in your TPS wiring. Check for Codes to find out if its the TPS wiring.

i'm doubting it is the IAC because, although it can make your idle stick high (2k rpm), it does not have the ability to raise it that much (4k rpm). keep us updated

I have no idea how your car can idle at 4000 rpms unless you have a massive vacuum leak or your throttle blade is getting hung up.

Even if you IAC was stuck all the way open it wouldn't idle up to 4000.

It has to be getting air from somewhere to idle that high...

A mouse stuck in the throttle plate? My car that sits for long periods gets them all of the time, besides the air box, they seem to like the area between the upper and lower manifold. Have not found any in the actual intake through. That would suck... literally.

so you checked codes and got a code 11 (meaning everything is ok) for the first three tests and a 9 (meaning all cylinders are functioning identically) for the cylinder balance test?

FYI, just because your CEL isn't on does not mean there are no codes... with it idling at 4k rpm there will be codes, i guarantee it.

My buddy ran them for me and all he came up with was a bad temp sensor I cnat test it when it is doing it the high rpms are not good on the motor
