The plan of attack for my 79
Well finally got around to taking some pictures of this thing! All I've done so far is clean it and start to strip the engine bay.
Anyway it's a 1979 pace car clone, came originally with a 302 and an automatic I searched around for a fox body for the past couple months now and finally found this one. I got it because it it had no rust/rot except for a small patch on the drivers side floor pan (weld a patch and call it good....). the car is clean inside and out!My plan: I am going to be putting my 351w that I built from the ground up in the car. The engine should be around 375hp and around the same for ft/lbs. I'm planning on adding a 75 shot too. I'm gonna run a manual with either a 4 or 5 speed (not sure if a stock T-5 will hold up???) Seeing as this car has a 7.5in rear end (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!) I have to choose between 3.73's and 4.10's, so I'll be going with 4.10's. I'm painting the car either flat black or a Satan black (paint not primer!) Gonna make a sleeper!! :wink I'll have to cut the hood to clear the Victor junior intake and the carb. Then I'm throwing in a 4 point roll bar for safety and to help strengthen the car for those hard launches, and I'll be putting racing seats in with 4 or 5 pointers. I'll be getting some new springs too, definitely something stiff for the rear, I haven't done any research on springs yet so anybody who wants to recommend things feel free/ Questions for you guys: What should I do for a tranny? will a stock T-5 handle my engine or should I look for an older 4 speed? I'm not going automatic so don't even suggest it please..... sorry the pics are dark...... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice Find on the clone. Seems to me that you will be far beyond the safe capacity of a stock t-5. If it were me, I would off the 7.5 rear and swap in an 8.8 along with either a TKO or an Astro prepped T5. 3.73s in the rear with 100 shot not 75
Thats just me

yeah def nice find, especially for a 79..but yeah i say eibach drag launch springs..
take out that 7.5 and put in a 8.8 with 3:73's..yeah 75-100 shot..and bout the tranny if you cant find a tremec or world class T5 for somewhat cheap, have the t5 prof built to a world class that can handle serious pwr..
