79 mustang instrument cluster

Hey guys, I am currenlty restoring a 1979 Ford Mustang 302/5.0. Yes, its the first year of the fox mustang. I'm Having trouble finding a good instrument cluster. All the clusters I find for the 79-83 are not working on my car. On the back of the cluster there is a green wiring piece that the harness connects to, to run the harness to the gauges, the green piece is a one piece assembly, but my original back piece is a two piece, one green and one pink/red color, and when I connect the new cluster my car will not start and the temp gauge reads that the car is overheating, and i know its not. Does anyone know anything about these clusters? Or where to find new ones or how to make a custom one. Anything will help and be much appreciated and I thank you for your time. Please help. Thanks.

you can go to like the local salvage yard and see if they have a good one there
