Anyone with a fiberglass hatch?
I was stripping paint on my back hatch today and found tons of rust thanks to the window being set in with RTV. I'm thinking about going with a fiberglass replacement and was wondering how well they work. Do they fit very well and do they seal good? Will they hold a glass rear window or do they need Lexan? I like the idea of loosing the pounds but not sure if it's good to loose it from the rear of the car. Any input would be great.

I was thinking about getting one of these too, I know the cervinis one accepts all the stock hardware. Some other brands are pin on only. Most accept the glass. I don't think I would use a fiberglass hatch for a daily driver. Not durable enough.

Well it's not really going to be a daily driver. I have an f-350 that's my daily driver, it's going to be more of an ocasional driver that will see the track more then the street. The big thing is I don't want water leaking in the back of the car if I do get cought out in the rain.

for the $400-450 bucks it cost for a stupid fiberglass hatch, you can land a custom cam and roller rockers..so why again?

Thanks for all of the input guys. I think I will stay with the OE sheet metal after all. I found one today for 50 bucks that's in pretty good shape so I think I pick it up later this week.

a better investment would be the lexan or "percy's speed glass" rear window. the hatch weight is minimal compared with the weight of that huge piece of glass.
