on my 87 fox i noticed that the rear was kinda twisting when just driving. so i checked it and come to find out the upper rear control arm broke. i know you are thinking just replace it. what broke was the bracket that holds it in place. its not bolted in there the whole mount broke. no either i have to fabricate a mount or i can get idea from everybody. please help

You might still be able the buy them from ford its the mount that welds in place right. You will have to find someone to re weld the new one on

look into a stangbox which is a solution for tearing out upper control mounts and is much tougher.and while your in their you should reinforcing kit for the lowers

you can buy the upper torque box repair kit that bolts through the floor. It is a huge huge pain in the ass, but it will most likely fix the problem.

Personally, I would just weld it back together if it isn't too torn up or rusted out. you can patch it back together with some decent thickness sheet metal and a good MIG welder. But make sure you do it with the control arm in place and the rear end where you want it, otherwise your geometry will be off.

Like I said, piece it back together with decent thickness sheet metal.

would you think that maybe angle iron would work or do you think that would be to much strain

The uppers don't really do much other than locate the rear and keep it from twisting. The reason why they break is just from flexing back and forth over time ...like twisting a pop can back and forth.

IT shouldn't take much to fix it. I"d start by tacking along the seam where it broke with a MIG to put it back to one piece. Then fill in the crack as much as possible and reinforce with some extra sheet metal. just use tin snips and cut a piece about the same shape and size as the bracket. Then tack the sheet metal in place and put some 1 inch seams around it. The only other thing I can think of is having someone fab a new bracket for you.
