timing chain gear instalation

Hey im new to this forum but i do know quite a bit about my mustang... the problem is i am currently rebulding my engine however when instaling the new timing chain, it doesnt apear to slide all the way on. i have everything lined up but it seems it only goes on about 3/4 of the way. does anybody have a pic of or know if the gear is supposed to slide on until the cam is flush or even past the outside of the timing gear? any help would be apreciated... thanks
