please help, i'm worried

okay, here is the problem, i have a 89 LX 5.0 with a 5spd. recently the oil pressure gauge started to drop to nothing (stock gauge) when i come to a stop not immediatly but after sitting for a few seconds.... well sometimes immediatly. however when i am cruising along and push in the clutch and just let it coast it doesn't drop. also sometimes when at a stop it will drop down then jump right back up after a couple seconds.... also when i say drop i don't mean like slowly i mean like i just turned off the ignition kind of a drop, and i mean ALLLLL the way down, like when the car is off.....
PLEASE help me, and fast this is my only car right now.

Mechanical does need to be mounted outside. Go electric. But I dont think its only your gauge but I dont know exactly what it is. Start with the gauge and go from there though.

I'd check it with a different gauge. If it still does it, then its time to worry.

hook a manuel gauge in the sending unit port and check it that way, my street car does that but it runs rich all the time..... not good on cylinder walls.....

mechanical gauge can be safely put in the cockpit..I use a copper line instead of the palstic one

Mine does the exact same thing
even tho ur engine is 2x bigger I dont think it matters
Mine has a mind of its own and Ive been driving it for a while what I did was
cleaned the engine bay to check for leaks...checked the dipstick regularly like everyday...
and then I checked for enlarged/dilated hoses and the ones I found I replaced with steel braided (2)
and my gauge still goes haywire so Im pretty sure urs is the gauge also

I'd bet on that it's the sending unit. My truck was doing the same thing. When i went around corners or came to a hard stop the guage would shoot back up. It was doing it for a while to, until i decided to do the easy thing first. Go to autozone and spend $30 at most for a new sending unit. Worked fine after that.
