What all do i need to do the brakes on my 92 LX 5.0

i just need to change the pads in them and get the rotor machined. and i want to do them myself. anything else i need besides the pads and take the rotors to get machined. do i need special tools?? do i need to bleed the brakes??

No special tools, you don't need to bleed the brakes. You'll need a c-clamp to push the caliper back in and some anti-squeel compound to put on the back of the pads (unless they come with shims) to keep them from making noise. Might be a good idea to get a can of brake cleaner too.

im so weary about doing this. never did it before and it's brakes. i need to be able to stop. lol. and i want to do it my self.

anyone know where i can find some detailed instructions. im a little timid about doing it and all the help i can use is a good idea.

get a good machine shop to cut the rotors...not a-zone or pep boys. they WILL ruin them

Sometimes removing the caliper pins is tough if they are seized/rusted, you will break your torx bit everytime, buy the type with a lifetime guarantee, if you break it just take it back. You may need to heat the caliper bracket where the pin threads in to loosen it, if you heat and apply some pressure you will feel the caliper pin come loose. Just don't torch the caliper rubber dust seal. I've got away with using a Plumbers Propane torch for years on these. Even better is having an impact gun.

Don't be discouraged we have all felt nervous doing it the first time.

Good Luck

yeah i know about that breaking the torx bits. i broke 5 of them just trying to get my manifold plate off. what a bitch. i got to buy them in bulk seems like. so i got them soaking in penetrating oil. hopefully i can get them off. i dont know my own strength sometimes.
