lets say I had 3k...

Ok, for just one moment lets assume I have found a 5.0. With 3k to spend, what would get me the most for the car? We can exclude labor, I know a guy or two that always has time for free. The trick flow kit looks like it would be a good start, but that doesn't leave me with much left. Would I get more for my money picking at other stuff for the engine? Really, how bad do these handle, would I be better off spending more money on the suspension?

well you could either

A. Buy a turbo kit, prolly a quicktime one with that budget

B. Trick flow kit, gears, nitrous, subframe connectors and exhaust

Buy a used set of Twisted Wedge, Canfield or AFR 165 heads. Buy a used Trick Flow Track Heat or Holley Systemax intake. Buy a new set of 3.73 gears. Buy a set of full length headers and complete exhaust. Maybe buy a cam like one of the Trick Flow grinds. Now you will have around 300hp at the wheels and still have money left over.

So the fox doesn't really need suspension/chassis stiffening that bad? How much into the car before I should start investing into stuff like that?

Shit, those are expensive, its just square tubing with mounts. Would welding normal steel tubing to the car work just as well? It would be a hell of a lot cheaper.

+1, just keep an eye out for JUNK!!! Ask questions, ask for good pics, etc...Getting screwed can cost you twice as much in the end...I know from experience.

What other kits are there aside from the trick flow one? Is that the best one?
