Removing plastic around speedo?

I've got a 88 mustang gt. The plastic arouind the speedometer wont come off. I need to fix or change my switch for the headlights because somethings wrong with it and the dashboard /heat controls don't work. They were working if I had the switch in just the right place but then it stopped working altogether. I can take all the bolts out of the plastic piece surrounding the speedo, but theres a little round platsic piece that goes from the low gas warning light area, towards the firewall. How do I take it out so I can get this piece off and fix my switch!? thanks

you have to take the lower plastic off too, there are 2 bolts by where your knees are at after you take that plastic cover off. You also have to take the plastic around the steering column off. Then the whole thing just pulls out. Look around for bolts that you missed. It should come right off once all the bolts/screws are out.

If you have all the bolts out, sometimes the wiring harness is hard to free up to get enough clearance to pull the plugs off. Try wiggling the whole cluster back and forth a few times.

Well I have some thing thats above my knees if i was sitting in the car..it has a key hole in it that looks like a gun lock key. Is that some kind of steering wheel lock? How do I get it off?

its a chapman alarm key lock. unbolt it it, should have a metal tube going to the firewall. it might have tamperproof bolts though
