Problem w/ Starting Car

Ok..yeah i should know.this but kinda stumped...it wont start, i just got the new BBK 255lph fuel pump in today, wired and all sensors in and tank back into place...and well car hasnt run in a while, cuz took apart to but on the harland sharp 1.6 rr's, chromemoly pushrods, double valve springs etc..well i replaced old accel cap and rotor w/ msd cap and rotor, and idk i think i screwed up timing..and cant get it running to use timing light..it just cranks, makes not effort to start, and i dont hear fuel pump priming when i turn key on..and all plug wires are in right spots..but if its not getting fuel it will not start..so even if timing was off it should start hard or just crank harder, but cranks smoothly..can also still do not have vaccum ports correct...but all are either right stuff attached or plugged..help..thanks

have you checked the fuel pump inertia switch under the panel in the back of the car? might need to drop the tank again and verify that everything is plugged in.

the inertia switch is supposed to get tripped when you are in a rollover collision, i n which case it shuts off power to the fuel pump. sometimes it gets tripped by something minor (ie going up a steep hill, accidently bumping the switch, etc). hitting the button resets the switch, restoring power to the fuel pump. really its a longshot but it wouldn't be the first time i've seen that problem. otherwise you need to test some wires going to the relay...

OK..yeah i know its a kinda killswtich thing...i may have hit it cuz im redoing interior, put battery in back and building custom rear seat delete..also i removed GT rear bumper and side brackets so i could have easily hit it not knowing..i'll do that tomorrow..how will i know the switch thing is working..also if its not the fuel problem..what else could it be..why it wont start..

check the relay under the drivers seat first. The schematic its free at autozone.com. A schematic is jus a wiring diagram.

if hitting the switch works, the next itme you turn the key to "on" you'll here the fuel pump prime. if thats not it you'll need to check some other things like the fuel pump relay, ignition switch etc. let me know. the non-code related electrical stuff is not my favorite but i'll help you as best as i can.

you would still be able to hear the fuel pump prime.

either way it sounds like a fuel pump problem because you should be able to hear the pump kick on with the key on engine off....
