A/C and over heating problems?

I just started my car today after turning it carb, heads etc.I didnt have any overheating problems until I drove it on the highway for an hour straight. Then when I slow down and even come a to a dead stop it starts cooling down.My timing is a little off and my carb needs tuning bad.I am going tomorrow to dyno tune it.What can it be???Also my a/c compressor does not turn on my friend said it not turning on because the cpu is not there and it cant read right?Has anyone done this conversion with a/c before?Thank for any help.

the computer tells the a/c relay to activate by providing a ground source, just find a way to activate your relay, also make sure your condensor fan works, as for overheating while driving check for airflow blockage on the front airdam and coolant level.

This might be off the wall, but did you remove the radiator fan shroud from the radiator? I know when i switch to carb, i said to my self, "I don't need this, it's just in the way".

By the way, i'm not talking about the condensor fan, i'm talking about the plastic shroud around the fan that cools the radiator. When i took mine off it always ran hot.......Weird but true. I always thought it protects your hands from the fan but what it actually does is channel cool air, otherwise with out it, it pulling air from the engine compartment, not through the radiator.......just my 2 cents.

I might of fixed the overheating it was missing like a quart or a little more of coolant.I just need to fix the a/c now.Could it have been the missing coolant even if it doesnt over heat while idle and only on straight away highway. Thanks
