My Stang is backfiring!

Ok, I have a little issue I would like to brainpick some people about. My car is firing horribly! It was at cold starts, and after I left the car sitting, at idle for a while. I would hit the gas, and the car would fall on it's face, and backfire a little. I just replaced the intake gasket, I got plugs(not installed, my car sits during the week!) replaced the cap, and rotor, and I also checked, and adjusted the timing with the spout connector out (10.5-11.5 degrees BTDC) I also left the spout connector out, so that the computer will relearn the proper timing, and not readjust back to 0-5 degrees ATDC.

It got worse after I did a fuel injection cleaning to it. Now it completely falls on it's face when I hit the gas, and sputters throughout the performance curve. I am think a fuel filter.

What else could it be?

I am assuming the order is correct, considering this was almost not an issue a few weeks ago. It also idles just fine, when I hit the gas, it starts sputtering, and more so since I added injector cleaner to the mix> What is the odds this could be a fuel filter?

I have a question about the firing order diagram, I am wondering which angle, and where the front of the cap is. sorry for asking that, but I am wanting to know, lol! I am learning to turn wrenches, I am pretty crafty, and do most of my own work, but there are some things I do not know, and I am surely not afraid to ask!

deff sounds like you should change that fuel filter... also with fuel injector cleaners if there was any "loose" debri in the tank it prolly wouldve disovled it enough to let go and therefore clog up that filter a lil more... other wise have you done anything to your car lately, in the time that it was running good to now>?

Mine seemed to have no power throughout the powerband. I replaced the mass air flow sensor and it picked up immediately. Try this. There was a service bulliten on a lot of Ford V8 cars in the mid- 90's. The MAF sensor is like $44.
