missing at high rpms
When im rapping out the gears my fox starts to miss pretty bad through the 5000 rpm range...in first itll pull on through and in secondin takes a lil longer to get through the 5000's......wat would you guys think the problem is.
oh yeah i havent had the car a year yet and when i got it the plus, wires, and rotor all looked pretty new and the wires are boush and the plugs are boush platinum two's so i didnt think those would be the problem...it looks like the original coil so do you think that could be it |

coil, wires, plugs, cap and rotor, timing?
I'd check it all.

do you think it could be a fuel pump problem or maybe some clogged injectors

I personally use Autolite plugs.
i dont see why a cam would cause it to miss...Different cams have diferrent RPM ranges but i dont see why it would start missing with a different cam in there.

its not your cam... kinda dificult for that... but DEF. CHANGE THOSE PLUGS... ive seen so many cars that run like a bag of ass just because of those plugs. every garage in my area refuse to use them because they foul out, they fail. i recomend the autolites, ford used them origonaly i believe, but they are a very good plug. also if you have high mileage i would try to stay away from platinum's becase the electrode is so small on them they foul out like a pack of dogs on a 3 legged cat. also be weary of the parts stores, a lot of them like the one i work at (advance auto) the employees are told to "push" items like the bosch platinums, so en employee may try to sell you them and tell you how if you use thos plugs girls will rub their vagina all over you or sum shit so you will buy...

replace the junk spark plugs with some autolite 25 plugs (AR25, not the platinum ones). get a fuel pressure gauge on and see how its doing. Check the Codes, including the cylinder balance test (let us know what codes you get). check the timing.
are you positive its missing? at those rpms its possible you're experiencing valve float...not to mention you are not going to make good power up into the upper 5k range anyway even with an aftermarket cam, unless the supporting parts are up to the task (valvesprings, lifters, intake, heads, MAF, TB, etc.) |

67- this is usually because of a missing/faulty/disconnected gear switch. sometimes caused by a clutch safety switch issue. not one that i would worry about just yet...but in some cases it causes a surging idle. gear switch pic: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...chlocation.jpg Continuous Memory: 29- vehicle speed sensor (VSS). should be at the transmission end of your speedo cable. check that it is and that it is hooked up. shouldn't be causing your problem though...been stalling when coming to a stop lately? long hang time between shifts? VSS pic: http://www.my5oh.com/tech/vss1.jpg 33- EGR Valve Position (EVP) sensor not indicating that the EGR valve is opening. unless you have to pass emissions testing i wouldn't worry about this one. it shouldn't cause any driveability problems. EVP pic: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i2...ocations-1.jpg KOER: 12- idle issues. might try the Base Idle Reset procedure, but you may also need to fix the 67. 44 and 94- sometimes these show up unless the engine is very warm. basically, during the test when the ECM commands the Thermactor Air (smog) valves to send air to the crossover tube and into the combustion chamber, it waits for the o2 sensors to indicate a temporary lean condition caused by the extra air. when the o2 sensors do not show lean these codes are logged. again, these codes shouldn't be causing a miss. TAD valve pic: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i2...ocations-6.jpg so, while these codes should be addressed sooner or later, they do not have anything to do with your issue. i suggest you run the cylinder balance portion of the running test. this will indicate if any individual cylinder is missing or has compression issues or has a faulty injector. |
